Before most kids could talk, I was yapping about anthropomorphic fruits on my parents’ work trips around the country. In grade 1, I discovered a love for reading and an affinity for daydreaming. In grade 3, I aced my English poetry assignments. By grade 5, I was writing short stories on my phone’s Wattpad app. That’s also when I started competing in feature, encouraging my interest in human stories. I began integrating queer and disabled experiences into my writing.
Now, in college, I am active in queer (especially aromantic-asexual) spaces and in disability justice as a self-advocate. UP also helps me be more reflective of my and others’ Filipino experiences.
